The University of Tehran (UT) is a public institution and is widely regarded as the most comprehensive university in Iran. It was established in 1851 and was officially ratified in 1934 as the country’s first modern university. The main campus is located in Tehran, the capital city, but UT also operates more than eight campuses throughout Iran. Since 1986, its medical faculties have functioned independently as the Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and Health Services. Today, TUMS is recognized as the oldest and one of the most prominent medical centers in Iran, both nationally and internationally.
